Creating Lead Funnels

In this lesson we are going to:

  • Discuss potential lead funnel offers

  • Learn how to create special offering and design into your web

  • Learn how to complete the system between newsletter form, automation and delivery of special offer

The easiest people to connect with what you do, are the ones who have said yes to joining your mailings. We talked about this when we learned about email campaigns and now we are highlighting it again as we learn about the opportunity of using lead funnels to offer value to your potential clients, as they opt-in to joining your list.

Start brainstorming ideas. What valuable and engaging resource can you offer your subscribers? Think of this resource as being something that they will want or need. A problem you solve in the work you do. And maybe most importantly, as a way for them to get to know you and how you do what you do a little better, to inform them if doing larger work with you is a good idea to stay on their radar.

Here are some ideas for what a lead funnel can offer:

  • Checklist

  • Workbook

  • Cheat sheet

  • Template

  • Swipe file

  • Script

  • Resource list

  • Planner

  • Blueprint

  • E-book

  • Workshop

  • Guide

  • Report

  • Infographic

  • Email course

  • Webinar

  • Free consult

  • Quiz

Offering a free resource will dramatically increase your chances of bringing in a new client that gets interested and stays interested in working with you.

Examples of Lead Funnels:

Action Steps:

  • Brainstorm ideas for what your free offer could be

  • Once decided, use Canva to design it (if applicable)

  • Design a 'section' on your home page or other page with your offer

  • In your email campaigns, create a mailing list just for that funnel

  • Return to the lead funnel section and connect the newsletter form to your freshly created mailing list

  • If applicable, design a 'not linked' page where those who opt-in will go to download a pdf, or other promised offer

  • Back inside email campaigns, create an 'email automation' for 'new subscribers'

  • Design that email template for the lead funnel and adjust the settings for it to be sent when people subscribe to that particular mailing list

  • Add a button or link to that email which will send them to the download PDF page, or a link to your scheduler - if the offer was for a free consult, etc..

  • Consider creating a 1-3 email automation series, that will continue to make contact with that potential client, being sure that each email is interesting, valuable and hopefully welcome to receive.

  • Remember at a later date you can send an email blast out to that particular mailing list with special offerings relating to their interest in your work

As I mention in the video demo, it's important not to think of a lead funnel as a way of tricking someone onto your mailing list. Just because other business (throughout business time) have used gimmicky tricks, does not mean that utilizing online business tools cannot be valuable to all parties involved. Everything you do is offering value and lead funnels offer a glimpse into your work without a big commitment. It helps them as the client to investigate if you are a good fit and it helps you generate 'leads' on who might be interested in the work you do. This exchange should be and feel mutually beneficial.
